 My Badi - Strandbad Hünenberg

My Badi - Strandbad Hünenberg

Summer is here!!!! And with that comes my favourite season in Switzerland,

Badi season!

Whether it is by the lake, in the rivers or visiting a local pool - The people of Switzerland love to cool down in the summer at the Badi. If you want to hang out with the locals this summer, the Badi is where you will find them. There are many different Badis spotted all over the country, and with this new summer series on Simple Family Travel, we’ll dive into some of your favourites. So sit back in your sun lounger, cocktail in hand and let’s go exploring.

To start us off on our summer journey we have Cheryl and the Badi Hünenberg. Cheryl together with her friend Sarah run the Swiss based etsy store, Curial Vintage.

Where is your favourite Badi?

We love the Badi Hünenberg on the lake of Zug.

Address: Dersbach 1, 6333 Hünenberg See

Opening hours and entry price?

The Badi is opened 8am till 10pm

Entry is 5chf for adults and 2chf for kids aged 6-16.

Best way to get there?

Badi Hünenberg is located on the lake of Zug between the villages of Cham and Rotkreuz. The closet train station is Hünenberg Zythus and is around a 7 minute walk.

There is paid parking out the front the Badi for about 50 cars. On hot days, the car park does fill up quickly. Other parking can be found near at the Hünenberg Myths train station.

What sets your Badi apart from the rest?

We love the layout of the badi itself.  Aside from a great place to swim there is also a children’s play area which includes a covered sandpit, a slide, a merry-go-round and once in a while even a bouncy castle. There is also room to play football and beach volleyball. Once in while they hold small concerts, have live-music or even hold Pilates courses!  There is also a full kitchen with warm food, and friendly staff.

Anything yummy that we must try on the menu?

The food is very good and they will occasionally serve Thai food, or have a special fire grill. The kids are always happy to eat chicken nuggets and pommes (chips or French Fries depending on your country of origin!).

What's one thing you never go to the Badi without?

We never head to the Badi without a Beach blanket, sunscreen and hat.

Tell us a little about Curial Vintage

We are two friends: one Canadian and one Australian living in Switzerland. When we discovered that we had a mutual love for European vintage applied arts and design, it seem natural to share our expanding collection. But we can’t keep everything, so Curial Vintage was born. Our Etsy shop showcases our hand-picked items from mid-century vases, Swiss Military rucksacks, Italian glass to Swedish figurines. The carefully chosen pieces are things we would proudly display in our own homes.

A big thanks to Cheryl for kicking off our Summer Badi Series here on Simple Family Travel and sharing with us all about the Hünenberg Badi. You can find out more information about Curial Vintage at their Etsy Store

Don't forget to check out the other locations in our series "My Badi".
